Poppy + Lynn

Poppy + Lynn, led by founder Amy Lynn Parmar, is a wedding planning and design agency that is equal parts wild and witty, chaotic and creative, and high end but never stuffy.

Coming from a background of fashion and theater, Amy took her passion for the dramatic and turned it into a career full of love, creativity, and, as any wedding vendor will tell you, tons of crazy stories. Her work has graced the pages of The New York Times, BRIDES, Bustle, The Knot, and many more.

Amy is passionate about working with couples from all backgrounds to create weddings that are unique, personal, and a damn good time. She is thrilled to be the design partner for Love Union and to be a part of this incredible NYC wedding community.

The VenueS

501 Union

Tucked among five distinct Brooklyn neighborhoods – Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, and Park Slope – 501 Union has become a hub for the community to gather, celebrate, educate, and learn. The building dates back to 1916 and once served as a classic car restoration shop. It was transformed into a private events venue in 2013 and now provides a unique backdrop for stylish weddings, corporate events, and photo shoots.

Driving & Parking

501 Union does not have a parking lot, but occasionally there is non-metered, street parking available on the streets surrounding the venue. There is also a QuikPark garage located at 365 Bond Street, which is approximately a four (4) minute walk from the venue.

Drivers should know that once they pass 501 Union, they will not be allowed to turn right until they get to 3rd Avenue. Once on 3rd Avenue, they should make another right onto 3rd Street, and a right onto Bond Street to get back to the corner of Union and Bond. All other roads will lead them to dead ends. That is the only way to circle back around to the venue. If possible they should look for parking on Union Street within 3-4 blocks of the building.

The closest subway stations are the F/G at Carroll Street and the R at Union Street.

the privilege is mine

Lara Mahler moved to New York City in 2007 from Toronto, Canada to receive her MFA in dance.

In 2016, six months after planning her own wedding, she noticed a gap in the wedding industry that she wanted to fill and THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE was born.

Lara's aim has always been to support couples during this season of life by offering accessible, approachable, creative, kind and collaborative support.  She wanted to stray away from the hysteria and chaos around weddings and wedding planners and show couples that with solid support, planning could be approached with ease, and in a "stress-less" way.

THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE is inspired by the diversity, art, architecture and music of New York City.  Our TPIM couples are looking to reimagine the wedding tradition, we support our couples by helping them to see ALL  the different ways they  can do a wedding and help them to make decisions that represent their unique partnership and bring them joy.

You can find THE PRIVILEGE IS MINE on the pages of the NY Post, Bustle, Martha Stewart Weddings, Over The Moon, The Cut, BRIDES and The Knot.  Lara is pumped to be a part of the planning team for the LOVE UNION 2024 and can't wait to see the amazing wedding community in one room.
