Join us for a live recording of The Wedding Whine Down — a comedy podcast hosted by Alison Semmler and Fallon Carter — that provides insight into the wedding industry for vendors and couples.
Weddings have long perpetuated the idea of perfection from the initial proposal expectations to the day-of hoopla around the dress, the bride, and those picture perfect photo moments. What does it mean for clients to enter into this world of perfection and what does it mean for vendors when things are, inevitably, not perfect? Let's have a discussion on the pitfalls of this perfectionism narrative - what can improve and how we can do a better job as active participants in the wedding industry. Let's get candid about the good, the bad, and the ugly of pinning one day on perfection - and the self-care that we all need to practice, too. Co-hosted by Modern Rebel Co Amy and Cait!
The Love Union happens to fall during Transgender Awareness Week, a time for transgender people and their allies to take action and bring attention to the community by educating the public and advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that transgender people face. This year we're participating by showing a screening of Emmy-nominated documentary Transformation, followed by a Q&A with the film's subject Madin Lopez (also one half of today's styled shoot couple!), moderated by Kate Schaefer, founder of H&H Weddings.
TRANSFORMATION is a documentary about a group of transgender teens and young adults struggling to find the resources, safety, and confidence to express their gender identity. With 45% of young transgender people having reportedly attempted suicide in the United States alone, non-binary stylist Madin Lopez has made it their business to provide life-altering, gender-affirming makeovers. Afterwards, these individuals are hopefully able to be their true and best selves, looking on the outside how they’ve always felt on the inside.
Grab a bag of popcorn and a cocktail at the bar, then join us in 501 Union's main room for movie night!
A small talk discussing how we can balance our ambitions, client demands, and personal lives without sacrificing our physical, emotional or mental health. Join us at the Crafternoon table for a Mandala making workshop and meditation with the crew from Starling. Limited to first 15 sign-ups, register on site Wednesday AM.
Mandalas are used in meditation as a focal point to quiet the mind. They allow your creative mind to take a break from your analytical mind. You choose one that “speaks” to you - If you feel positive emotions you have chosen the right one. Before you meditate on your mandala- set your intention: something that is going on in your life, something you want to clearly understand, or ask for guidance. Begin your meditation by gazing into the mandala and letting go of all unwanted thoughts. Focus on here and now. Imagine you are floating into the mandala and allow yourself to absorb the wonder and beauty of the design and colors. Relax and stay focused.

Chellise Michael Photography has been going strong with a crew of 5 photographers for the past 5 years and boy have they learned a lot! Building their crew was hands down one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of their company. Ups and downs. Mostly ups if you do it right! Chellise will talk about creating a culture within your brand that photographers will be proud to shoot for, contracts, pay, usage of photos, coaching, and most importantly, preserving the brand that you spent years building. We will share our notes on who to hire, (there is a "type") when to grow, and when to let go when it’s time. So before you go from you to crew - ask yourself why. Mo' money? Mo' free time? (not!) Mo' status? Chellise is here to share the pros and cons because they do come hand in hand and baby, you're gonna need all the advice you can get. Use her!
