Michele Kaufman & Claire Turner, Brooklyn Grange
A native New Yorker, Michele graduated from Pitzer College, where she majored in Environmental Studies. While matriculated, Michele fell in love with the wild topography surrounding the town of Claremont, CA, and when 85 acres of nearby native coastal sage scrub landscape was threatened by development, she launched a monthly event series to raise support amongst the community for its preservation. Michele has developed the farm’s wedding program and produced countless events on the roofs.
Claire grew up in San Francisco, CA where issues of food justice were discussed around the dinner table. Her fondest memories of childhood are of summers spent at farm camp, and she's been trying to reconcile her love of cities and farming ever since. After receiving her degree in environmental sociology from Hampshire College, she moved to NYC to build a career that joins her passion for unique event production with her goal of connecting people to the natural environment. When Claire isn't at the Grange, you can usually find her exploring the far reaches of the five boroughs in search of the best taco in NYC or baking pies under the moniker (@piebabe) while her husband Sam practices accordion in the other room.
