Colette Komm is a New York based couture designer who creates exquisite and luxurious custom wedding gowns, evening gowns and corsets. In this workshop, Colette will lead us through basic hand-sewing techniques that all planners should know in the event of a wedding day fashion emergency. Through hands-on instruction, Colette will show us how to sew a hook and eye, replace a lost eye with thread loops, stitch buttons and even deal with a broken zipper! She'll also go over the best tools to keep in an emergency sewing kit, from a specific type of thread that won’t knot up, to needles that won’t damage delicate silk fabrics—even some stain removal must-haves! Limited availability, sign up at the front desk.
A full day of sitting and chatting and eating mixes well with an opportunity for moving your body, so come to Midday Movement with HanaKyle for a 30 minute stretch break. Breathing and stretching (aka yoga) engages a different part of the brain, and encourages circulation in the body, so you will feel refreshed and ready to continue to connect and create for the remainder of each day. Show up as you are; we’ll stand and/or sit in chairs. No need for a change of clothes or a fancy mat. Everyone is welcome!
Click HERE to sign up for a one-on-one Office Hours session with Nicole and Ashley to discover tips on how to make the most out of your participation as a vendor at Wedding Crashers; pick their brains on digital marketing and your online presence, and brainstorm creative ways to engage with couples at the fair.
Before or your Office Hours session with Ashley and Nicole, be sure to get your wedding business tarot read by Naomi Rosenblatt, whose readings are sponsored by Wedding Crashers.
Let's get candid with each other about real NYC weddings and their costs. Join Wedding Crashers founders Nicole Davis and Ashley Mikoletic Cheng as they talk shop + swap stories and insights about local wedding marketing. They also want to hear from you -- how can they best educate Wedding Crashers guests and their online audience about all the factors that go into your pricing?
Join planner and designer Laura Remmert for a discussion about short term planning package options, the stigma around offering this service, the pros and cons and how to set boundaries with your clients. Laura will offer advice to other planners about how to successfully coordinate a wedding planned by the couple, the steps needed to "close out" the wedding, and how to "save the day" for your month of clients.
Thinking about participating in Wedding Crashers this year? Founders Nicole Davis and Ashley Mikoletic Cheng will be onsite all day Monday signing you up at the special Early Bird rate, extended through 11/30 for Love Union attendees. Stop by the Wedding Crashers table, ask questions or register for the fair, or propose a special way to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
PLEASE NOTE: Capacity is limited to the first 50 guests to sign up; arrive early for registration to secure a seat at the table.
Dish will also be providing a grazing station at 501 Union, open to all. (So don't fret if you don't make the RSVP list or prefer to work through lunch!)

Wedding planner José Rolón has been using essential oils with his couples for over a year now: diffusing lavender in their hotel room to keep them chill, rubbing peppermint down their neck and top spine to cool them off when they're out taking pics in the heat, or placing a drop of lemon on their wrist to keep their mood up. In this workshop, Jose will walk us through ways to use oils on the wedding day...and how to incorporate them into your own wellness routine to stay calm, sane and healthy during a 16-hour day!
One of the fun things about the Love Union is we get to explore the intersections between our roles in the industry. And though our goal is common (happy clients!), there can sometimes be overlap, conflict, and confusion that can be minimized with a better understanding of each other's roles and responsibilities. We are all in this together!
Join Tammy Golson Fallon, founder of Tammy Golson Events for a discussion between florist Gabrielle Aronas (G! Designs), venue coordinators Claire Mahler (501 Union) and Susan Liang (The Green Building), photographer Amber Gress, Founder & Director of MG Hair & Makeup Megan Garmers, and Holly Sheppard, owner of Fig & Pig Catering as they reveal some of the biggest misconceptions about their role in the wedding, pet peeves when working with other vendors, and the one thing they wish their colleagues knew about their job!
